Burns Night from Scotland

Proposal for a live Sister Cities web conference between a Burns Night celebration in Dunkeld or Birnam, Scotland (location to be determined) and an audience in Asheville, North Carolina:

Outline: 

• Asheville Sister Cities invites our friends in Dunkeld and Birnam Scotland to share their Burns Night celebration from about 7 – 9 pm (1 – 3 pm in Asheville) on Saturday January 24, 2026.  
• Asheville Sister Cities will host a free and open to the public web conference for about 20 to 50 attendees from the DoubleTree Hotel in Asheville as a prelude to our own Burns Night celebration later in the evening.

Goals:

• Build community with our Sister Cities by sharing the special event that is Burns Night.
• Generate interest and provide a free option to the Asheville community to experience Burns Night without having to pay for the rather expensive Asheville Sister Cities’ Burns Night ticket. 
• Make preparing presentations by our friends in Scotland easier and more impromptu.
